Narasimham Parinandi (Pari) is currently an associate professor of internal medicine and pharmacology at the Ohio State University College of Medicine, Columbus, OH, USA. Pari received his PhD in Biology and Toxicology from the University of Toledo, Toledo, OH, USA in 1986 under the tutelage of Prof. Woon Jyung, an authority on zinc metabolism in plants. During doctoral training, Pari specialized in bio-inorganic chemistry and interaction of trace metals with membrane lipids in brain. Pari had undergone post-doctoral training at the Hormel Institute (Mecca of Lipid Research) of the University of Minnesota, Austin, MN in Membrane Lipid Biochemistry and Lipid Oxidation Chemistry from 1986-1990 under the mentorship of Prof. Harald Schmid, a world-renowned expert on plasmalogen and anandamide chemistry. Following that, he was an editor of toxicology and biochemistry and information scientist at the CAS of the American Chemical Society in Columbus, OH, USA. Pari was a junior faculty at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, Baltimore, MD where he worked on oxidant lipid signaling in the division of pulmonary & critical care medicine during 1998-2002 under the mentorships of Prof. Skip Garcia and Prof. V. Natarajan, who are celebrities in vascular endothelial biology and signaling. In 2002, Pari joined the Division of Pulmonary & Critical Care Medicine of the OSU College of Medicine as an assistant professor and has established the Lipid Signaling, Lipidomics, and Vasculotoxicity program at the Davis Heart & Lung Research Institute of the Ohio State University. Pari’s research focus is on Phospholipid Signalases in Lung Vasculature, Lipidomics of Adiposity, and Bioactive Oxidant Lipidomics in Vasculotoxicity. Pari has published over 70 papers in peer-reviewed journals. Pari has been one of the editors of the Journal of Glycomics and Lipidomics. Pari’s passion is to train young scientists, bridging between clinician and basic scientists, and is dedicated to education and training. Pari has trained over 50 young researchers and has been awarded the Outstanding Mentor Awards of the DHLRI and OSU Undergraduate Program.
