Dr. Amann graduated from the Pennsylvania State University in 1985 with degrees in Chemical Engineering and Biochemistry. He worked as a research assistant at the Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, TX until entering graduate school at University of Alabama at Birmingham in 1989. He moved with his advisor to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in 1991 where he finished his Ph. D. in Cell Biology in 1996. He then did his postdoctoral fellowship at Vanderbilt in 1997 in the lab of Scott Hiebert. After he finished his postdoctoral fellowship, he was appointed Research Assistant Professor in 2003 in the Department of Cancer Biology, where he worked in the laboratory of David Carbone. He moved with Dr. Carbone to the Ohio State University Medical Center in the fall of 2012. His research is focused on lung cancer and targeted-therapies.
