Dr. Mortazavi joined the faculty upon completing his training in Hematology and Oncology in 2005 having previously trained in medicine at the University of Tehran and Internal Medicine at the University of Buffalo where he also conducted translational research at Roswell Park Memorial Cancer Institute.  Although he manages all types of genitourinary malignancies, Dr. Mortazavi has established a strong and collaborative program in clinical bladder cancer care. His research begins at the laboratory bench where his team focuses upon understanding epigenetic modifications that contribute to the development of bladder cancer and its progression.  He collaborates actively on studies of bladder cancer prevention with novel dietary and nutritional strategies.  Dr. Mortazavi pursues the development of novel pharmaceutical agents for chemoprevention and experimental therapeutics.
