Summer Research

 summer research opportunities

Each summer The Department of Internal Medicine funds 6 research opportunities for medical students.  Students work with an advisor and conduct a basic science, applied or clinical research project.  The awards are available to first year (entering second year medical students of the Ohio State University College of Medicine).  The student will play a participatory role and take an active part in reviewing literature, executing experiments, collecting data, analyzing, interpreting results and writing manuscripts.  Dissemination of results through publication and presentations is expected and advantageous to a student’s career.    Students are required to deliver a report and a poster presentation on the research project to the Department Chairman, Dr. Michael Grever. In addition the student will be expected to participate in Research Day.  Information on the application process is sent to students in January.
