Ronald L. Whisler M.D.
Presented by Ohio State’s Department of Internal Medicine, the Metz award honors the accomplishments of physicians in teaching, research and clinical care. Whisler, a physician and researcher, has been the recipient of several awards for his achievements. In 2002 he became the first person to be named to the Martha Morehouse Chair in Arthritis and Immunology.
As director of the division of immunology since 1980, he has been involved in numerous research studies on the cause and treatment of arthritis and disorders affecting the immune system.
He is a 1968 graduate of the Ohio State University College of Medicine, and except for four years at the Mayo Foundation for postdoctoral study, has been at Ohio State his entire medical career.
