OSU Medical Center Pulmonologist Discusses COPD Study

Dr. Philip Diaz, of the division of pulmonary, allergy, critical care and sleep medicine, appeared on "Good Day Columbus", a local morning program, to talk about a national study evaluating the safety and effectiveness of home oxygen therapy. Diaz, principal investigator of the LOTT (long-term oxygen treatment trial) at Ohio State’s Center for Critical Care and Respiratory Medicine, said the results of the study will be especially important because they will also assist in Medicare’s decision to extend coverage for home oxygen treatment to patients with moderate disease, since Medicare currently limits the coverage to only those severely affected by the disease.
