Inpatient Service

The inpatient clinical activities of the Nephrology Division include a dedicated Nephrology service, a Consultative Nephrology service, and Transplant Medicine service at Ohio State University Hospitals; as well as a Consultative Service at OSU East. The Nephrology service is dedicated to caring for patients with renal disease and its associated problems. The average daily census of the Nephrology service is 10 patients and represents more than 1,200 admissions per year. The Transplant Medicine service cares for patients with solid organ transplants hospitalized for any reason and also provides consultations for solid organ transplant patients throughout the hospital. The Consultative Nephrology service provides consultations to all other services in the hospitals. The inpatient acute dialysis center performs approximately 4,000 hemodialysis and 150 continuous arteriovenous hemodialysis treatments per year. The OSU East Nephrology program provides general Nephrology consultations to the patients of this community hospital.
