Dr. Mrozek joined the Division of Solid Tumor Oncology in 2005.  Her research interests include experimental therapeutics, particularly developing new neoadjuvant chemotherapy regimens, and cancer in elder adults.  As part of fellowship training she completed a Breast Fellowship specifically designed to train future translational investigators. She has performed several neoadjuvant trials including a CTEP-sponsored trial of paclitaxel, carboplatin and a gamma secretase inhibitor, in women with stage II, III breast cancers which inhibits so called “breast stems cells.”  These stem cells are typically resistant to chemotherapy and radiation and it is thought that even 1 of these cancer cells is capable of growing into an entire breast cancer. She also is developing a program to serve the needs of the elder adult with cancer.  She is a member of the NCCN panel in Senior Adult Oncology and a member of Alliance Committee on Cancer in the Elderly.  Dr. Mrozek provides clinical care to women with all stages of invasive breast cancer.
