Dr. Chao has a unique background in both biomedical engineering and cancer research. His research project studies the use of oncolytic virotherapy in lung cancer treatment, specifically the effect of tumor-stromal interaction on viral susceptibility and spread, using a novel in vitro microfluidic method. He is currently a local principal investigator in the final steps of opening a phase 1 study of an ALK inhibitor for resistant ALK-positive non-small cell lung cancer and also in the process of opening a phase 2 study of a multi-target tyrosine kinase inhibitor for mesothelioma. His has clinical specilaities in both lung cancer and head and neck cancers.
