Dr. McVey holds joint appointments in the Departments of Psychiatry and Internal Medicine, the Division of Hematology and the Division of Medical Oncology. She serves on the Professionalism Environment Committee and the James Cancer Center Ambulatory Suicide Screening Taskforce. She also has served as a consultant to the International Breast Cancer Research Foundation in Madison, Wisconsin. Dr. McVey serves as a full-time clinical provider for the James Cancer Hospital. Although she works primarily with cancer patients and their families, she sees a variety of other patients in both the inpatient and outpatient settings. Dr. McVey has facilitated monthly support groups, including groups for spouses/significant others of prostate cancer survivors and breast cancer survivors. She also provides supervision of cognitive-behavioral treatment for psychiatry residents. Dr. McVey's research interests include the effects of culture on quality of life for cancer patients and the effects of cancer and cancer treatment on cognitive and sexual functioning.
