Physicians Bring Skills to Ohio State

COLUMBUS, Ohio – A number of new physicians have recently joined the medical staff at The Ohio State University Medical Center.

Drs. Robert A. Baiocchi (43221), Doreen Agneses (43228), Rebecca Klisovic (43221), Thomas Olencki (43221) and Henry J. Kaufman (43215) have joined the division of hematology/oncology; Drs. S. Scott Davis Jr. (43221) and Matthew I. Goldblatt (43235), division of general surgery; Drs. Maria R. Lucarelli (43212) and James O’Brien (43221), division of pulmonary, critical care and sleep medicine; Dr. Vamshi K. Garlapaty (43212), division of nephrology; Drs. Celeste P. Durnwald (43016), Melissa M. Goist (43228), Linbee Sayat (43220) and Wanjiku Kabiru (43220), division of obstetrics and gynecology; Drs. Andrew S. Gerken (43230), Anna A. Petrova (43212), Laura Chevalier (43123), Jason Davenport (43201), Kendra McCamey (43201) and Allison Macerollo (43205), department of family medicine; Drs. Maria Kataki (43204) and Veena V. Sengupta (43017), department of neurology; Dr. Josue Gabriel (43016), department of orthopaedic surgery; Drs. John H. Sirak (43054) and Juan Crestanello (43054), division of cardiothoracic surgery; Drs. Zhenguo Liu (43017) and Theodore Fraker Jr. (43230), division of cardiovascular medicine; Dr. Madhu Mehta (43016), division of rheumatology/immunology; Dr. Gwendolyn Sowa (43235), department of physical medicine and rehabilitation; and Dr. Bradford McGwire (43221), the division of infectious diseases.

Baiocchi completed his residency at the OSU Medical Center and his fellowship at The James Cancer Hospital and is now practicing at The Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital and Richard J. Solove Research Institute.

Agneses comes to The James Cancer Hospital following her residency at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey and focuses on breast cancer, melanoma, general surgical oncology and clinical cancer genetics.

Klisovic is continuing her involvement with The James Cancer Hospital after her fellowship there, as well as her residency at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill.

Olencki comes to the James Cancer Hospital following his residencies at Riverside Osteopathic Hospital, Trenton, Mich., and William Beaumont Hospital, Royal Oak, Mich., as well as his fellowship at Wayne State University in Detroit.

Kaufman completed his residency at the University of Tennessee College of Medicine, Chattanooga, and will continue his work at the James Cancer Hospital focusing on gastrointestinal malignancies.

Davis comes to the OSU Medical Center and will be practicing in the division of general surgery after his residency completion at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago.

Goldblatt comes from his residency at the Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee to practice at OSU Medical Center, where he will continue his interest in gastric bypass and solid organ surgery.

Lucarelli earned her medical degree at the Western Reserve Care System in Youngstown, which preceded her fellowship at the OSU Medical Center. She will continue practicing in the division of pulmonary, critical care and sleep medicine.

O’Brien joined OSU Medical Center following a fellowship at the University of Colorado Health Science Center in Denver.

Garlapaty will continue her work at OSU Medical Center, where she completed both her residency and her fellowship in the division of nephrology.

Durnwald will be practicing at outpatient services on Kenny Road in the division of obstetrics and gynecology, where she will focus on high-risk obstetrics, prenatal diagnosis and obstetrical ultrasound.

Goist joined OSU Medical Center's University Hospital East, where she will center her attention on adolescent gynecology, focusing on gynecology and the college student.

Sayat comes to the University Hospital Clinic following a residency at OSU Medical Center and Mt. Carmel Medical Center in the division of obstetrics and gynecology.

Kabiru will be practicing at the University Perinatal Consultants on Kenny Road, with clinical interest in the area of maternal and fetal medicine.

Gerken joined the OSU Family Practice at Gahanna following his residency at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston and a fellowship at OSU Medical Center.

Petrova takes her interest in complementary and alternative medicine to OSU Family Medicine Downtown after receiving her medical degree from the Moscow Medical Academy in Russia.

Chevalier joined OSU Internal Medicine at Grove City following her residency at OSU Medical Center, and will focus on preventive medicine.

Davenport will be practicing at OSU Rardin Family Practice Center after receiving his medical degree from the University of Michigan and serving a fellowship at Michigan State University.

Kataki joined OSU Medical Center after a number of residencies (Mental Disease Hospital in Greece, Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, National University of Athens, Greece) and fellowships at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Houston and Baylor College of Medicine in Houston.

Sengupta will be practicing in the department of neurology at University Hospital East following her completion of both her residency and fellowship at the University of Texas in Dallas.

Gabriel completed his residency and fellowship at the Hospital University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia and will be practicing orthopaedic surgery at OSU.

Sirak joined the division of cardiothoracic surgery after completing his residency and fellowship at OSU.

Crestanello comes to OSU Medical Center from residencies at MCP Hahnemann University in Philadelphia, the University of Maryland Medical System and the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota.

Liu joined the the division of cardiovascular medicine after fellowships at the University of Minnesota Medical Center and Aurora Health Care/University of Wisconsin.

Fraker has an interest in cardiac rehabilitation and risk factor modification.

Mehta joined the Stoneridge Clinic in the division of rheumatology/immunology after residencies at the Hurley Medical Center in Michigan and the University of Arkansas College of Medicine.

Sowa will be working at Dodd Hall in the department of physical medicine and rehabilitation, with an interest in diagnosis and treatment of head injury patients.

McGwire joined OSU Medical Center after completing both his residency and fellowship at the University of Illinois. Here, he will focus on diagnosis and treatment of all types of infectious diseases.

McCamey joined the Family Practice at Victorian Village and is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians and American Medical Society for Sports Medicine.

Macerollo will be practicing at OSU Family Practice at University Hospital East after receiving her medical degree from the Ohio State University College of Medicine and Public Health.
