Professional Highlights
Dr. Brachman was a faculty member in the Internal Medicine Department at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami after completing her resident training in 2002. She has an undergraduate background in medical and social anthropology. She did field work and subsequently developed a grant funded, reproductive, public health project for Guatemalan refugees located in southern Mexico. Dr. Brachman has a wide range of experiences in international health care, and her interests lie with social justice medicine. From January to July 2005, she worked as a Specialist Registrar in England at Cambridge University Medical School's teaching hospital, Addenbrook's. Prior to coming to OSUWMC in 2006, Dr. Brachman worked from October 2005 to October 2006, in Southern India as a Consultant Physician in the Infectious Disease Department and the Emergency Department at the Christian Medical College and Hospital of Vellore in Tamil Nadu, India. She continues to divide her time between OSUWMC and her work in India. At OSUWMC, currently, she has been involved in a collaborative process to help standardize and guide treatment for sickle cell patients. As well, she is involved with developing a curriculum for residents regarding peri-operative management.
