Biographical

Ms. Nagy’s undergraduate training was completed at the University of Iowa in Iowa City, IA. She graduated in 1992 with a Bachelor’s of Science in Biology with a minor in English. She then was a Research Assistant in the Department of Physiology and Biophysics at the University of Iowa, where she worked for 2 years on gene transcription in Drosophila melanogaster. In June 1996, she completed her Master’s of Science in Genetic Counseling at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis, MN. In June 1999, she received her Board Certification from the American Board of Genetic Counseling. Between July 1996 and October 2002, Ms. Nagy was a Genetic Counselor in the Center for Human Genetics at Case Western Reserve University/University Hospitals of Cleveland in Cleveland, Ohio. In 1999, she was appointed to Clinical Instructor of Medicine. She then came to The Ohio State University in October 2002 as a Genetic Counselor and Clinical Instructor of Medicine in the Clinical Cancer Genetics Program in the Division of Human Genetics, Department of Internal Medicine. She was promoted to Clinical Assistant Professor of Internal Medicine in 2005. In 2010 she was appointed Assistant Professor, Clinical Internal Medicine. Ms. Nagy’s clinical responsibilities include counseling patients and families with a variety of different cancer susceptibility syndromes about cancer risks, genetic testing, and medical management. In addition to her clinical duties, Ms. Nagy is the Study Coordinator for the Familial Papillary Thyroid Cancer gene hunting study as well as the Endocrine Neoplasia Repository Study and is a Co-investigator on the NCI-funded program project "Genetic Signaling Pathways in Epithelial Thyroid cancer, led by PI, Matthew D. Ringel, MD. She is also active in the National Society of Genetic Counselors (NSGC) serving as Co-chair of the Cancer Special Interest Group between 2007-2009 and then as NSGC Secretary Treasurer in 2010 (elect) and 2011.
