Clinical Interests
Ms. Sturm specializes in genetic counseling and risk assessment for adult-onset genetic conditions. One of Ms. Sturm’s main clinical interests is inherited forms of heart disease. Ms. Sturm sees patients in the Medical Genetics Program and also coordinates and sees patients in the following multidisciplinary clinics at the Richard M. Research Interests
Ms. Sturm’s research interests include cardiovascular genetics, personalized medicine, and the development and implementation of self-administered, computerized, familial risk assessment tools. Specifically, she collaborates with another OSUMC genetic counselor on a research project studying an online, automated familial risk assessment tool, Family HealthLink, that assesses risk for cancer and coronary heart disease. Ms. Sturm is also one of two OSUMC genetic counselors working with the ongoing Coriell Personalized Medicine Collaborative (CPMC) research studies. She also collaborates with the Division of Cardiovascular Medicine on their Heart Center Biobank protocol. She also coordinates an international gene hunting and characterization study for the condition juvenile cobalamin deficiency.
