Research Interests
1. Optimizing the functionality of the electronic medical record.
2. Optimizing the training of providers to use the electonic medical record in a manner that provides better patient care and safety.
1. A significant improvement in the EMR training curriculum based on student evaluations and implementation measures.
2. A successful transition from paper charting to electronic charting at the Morehouse General Internal Medicine Office. Our success has been seen as a model that has altered the implementation strategy for subsequent clinics at the medical center.
I plan to continue working on the training curriculum for the EMR with a new focus on developing a cohort of physician champions. I hope to use a Sharepoint site as a platform to disseminate training documents along with best practices. In the process, I hope to see the Department of Internal Medicine see the full benefits and potential of the electronic medical record. This will become even more important as the medical center implements this system in the inpatient environement.
