In addition to clinical training, research is a required component of the program. The OSU Medical Center for clinical research studies. Throughout the fellowship, each trainee works closely with a single faculty advisor in a clinical/basic science research area of mutual interest. This one-to-one relationship provides appropriate mentoring for research project and career development.
With internationally known faculty, the Division has an excellent fellowship training program in endocrinology, diabetes and metabolism. There is a ten-bed NIH-funded Clinical Research Center which enables faculty and trainees to conduct research studies in various areas, including nutrition, lipids, neuroendocrine tumors, diabetes, and osteoporosis. It also presents trainees with an excellent opportunity for individual clinical research studies. The Division was recognized in 1993, 1994, 1995, 1996 and 1997 by U.S. News & World Report as being in the top 3% of all American hospitals in the specialty of endocrinology.
