The Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism of The Ohio State University Medical Center was established as one of the oldest true divisions in the field of endocrinology 30 years ago. The contributions of the division to the understanding of endocrinology and metabolism have been enormous. These include the fields of diabetes, lipid and lipoprotein metabolism, gut hormones and thyroid diseases.

Over the years, the division has expanded its expertise into the areas of energy metabolism and obesity, pituitary diseases, osteoporosis and bone metabolism. In addition, the division prides itself with the expertise in teaching and education of physicians and students as well as paramedical staff at local, regional and national levels.

The mission of the division has not gone unnoticed by the physicians and peers around the country. Indeed, the division has been recognized and cited as among the best by the U.S. News and World Report survey of America's Best Hospitals for 5 consecutive years. The history, tradition and expertise of The Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism of The Ohio State University have provided the impetus to provide an array of unprecedented subspecialty care for patients with endocrinologic and metabolic diseases in the State of Ohio and the country at large.
