Curriculum
The core curriculum combines both patient care and didactic teaching. Gastroenterology fellows participate in clinical activities as consultants in the hospital and in outpatient settings, as well as in performing gastrointestinal procedures in both inpatient and outpatient settings. The fellows are exposed to a wide variety of clinical material including liver diseases, clinical nutrition, gastrointestinal oncology and general gastroenterology.
Didactic conferences include interdepartmental conferences such as GI pathology, GI survey, interventional radiology and subspecialty conferences, as well as research conferences, topic reviews and journal clubs.
Formal instruction in general areas such as biomedical statistics, experimental design, biomedical ethics and risk management is provided in a mandatory course for all fellows in Internal Medicine Subspecialty Fellowships.
