Program Overview
The gastroenterology training program is of three years' duration. The program provides at least 24 months clinical training and provides for the development of the clinical skills necessary to be a consultant in gastroenterology. In addition, it provides the opportunity for the development of research training.
Special Features of the Fellowship Program
The Gastroenterology Fellowship Program provides an excellent clinical fellowship designed to expose the fellow to a wide variety of digestive disease clinical problems. In adition to becoming a consultant, there is the ability to become trained in procedures including liver biopsy, colonsocopy, upper GI endoscopy and therapeutic endoscopic retrograde cholangio pancreatography. The Ohio State University has an active liver transplant program and is a leading center for diagnostic and therapeutic (sphincterotomies, stents, etc.) endoscopic retrograde cholangio pancreatography.
