Board Certified In Internal Medicine and Cardiovascular Disease

 

Dr. Stephen Schaal is professor of Medicine in the Division of Cardiovascular

Medicine at The Ohio State University Medical Center. Dr. Schaal is widely published in peer-reviewed journals such as Cardiovascular Disease, Journal of Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics and American Journal of Cardiology. He also is author or co-author of several book chapters, including “Syncope in the Elderly” in Cardiovascular Disease in the Octogenarian and Beyond and “Floppy Mitral Valve/Mitral Valve Prolapse” in Cardiac Arrhythmias, Pacing and Electrophysiology The Expert View. Dr. Schaal is past president of the American Heart Association, (Central Ohio Heart Chapter) and American Heart Association, (Ohio Affiliate). He is a member or fellow of other professional societies, including the American College of Cardiology, American College of Physicians and Council on Circulation, American Heart Association and Central Society for Clinical Research. He has received multiple teaching awards at OSU Medical Center.

 

Experience

Dr. Schaal has been practicing medicine for nearly 40 years, nearly all of which was at OSU Medical Center. He also served 20 years as director, Electrophysiology Laboratory, from 1972 to 1995.
