Board Certified In Internal Medicine and Cardiovascular Disease
Dr. Richard Lewis is emeritus professor of Medicine in the Division of Cardiovascular Medicine at The Ohio State University Medical Center. He has been practicing medicine for more than four decades and has been teaching since 1968. He has published well over 100 articles and abstracts in peer-reviewed publications, including the American Heart Hospital Journal. He has authored or coauthored a number of books, including The Heart Companion Handbook and Diagnosis and Management of Syncope in the Heart. Dr. Lewis is a current member of the editorial board, Clinical Cardiology, and is past president of the American College of Cardiology. He is a member or fellow of numerous other professional societies, including the American Federation for Clinical Research and the American College of Physicians. He has held numerous visiting professorships at institutions such as Walter Reed Army Medical Center, Johns Hopkins University, the Mayo Clinic and Brigham and Women’s Hospital. Dr. Lewis is the founding and current editor of the Adult Clinical Cardiology Self Assessment Program (ACCSAP) of the American College of Cardiology.
Experience
Dr. Lewis is emeritus professor of Medicine in the Division of Cardiovascular Medicine at The Ohio State University Medical Center, after having been professor of Medicine from 1975 to 1999. Dr. Lewis served as director, Division of Cardiology, OSU from 1972 to 1986. He is a veteran of the U.S. Army Medical Corps, where he attained the rank of Captain and later served as Colonel, U.S. Army Medical Corps Reserve.
