Dear Fellowship Applicant,

As directors of the Cardiovascular Medicine Fellowship program, we encourage you to consider The Ohio State University Medical Center in your search for training in cardiovascular disease.  Our division has experienced significant growth in faculty, facilities, fellows and research opportunities in the past few years, positioning us at the cutting edge of comprehensive cardiovascular care.

Our faculty size has tripled since 2002, and now contains over 60 members with nationally and internationally recognized leaders in all areas of cardiology.  In addition, our vascular and cardiothoracic surgery divisions have grown in kind.  Within our fellowship, trainees have exposure to an unparalleled variety of disease pathology, mentored by strong clinician educators in all areas of cardiology and surgery.

With completion of the Richard M. Ross Heart Hospital in 2004, one of the first of its kind in the country, we revolutionized the patient-centered model of academic cardiovascular care.  With universal patient rooms, a complete invasive procedural suite, comprehensive non-invasive imaging and state-of-the-art operating technologies, the Ross provides a training environment that is unsurpassed.

Our division presents tremendous opportunities to become involved in research during your fellowship training.  Mentors are eager to help you succeed in pursuing an academic career in basic, translational or clinical investigation.  The Dorothy M. Davis Heart Lung Research Institute also houses experts in study design and grant support who are available to guide fellows throughout the research process.

Overall, our fellowship program provides an outstanding foundation, resulting in graduates that are highly competitive for positions in either academic or clinical cardiology.  We hope that you find Ohio State a dynamic and attractive setting that will allow you to succeed in your career goals.

Sincerely,

Albert J. Kolibash, Jr., MD
