Salaries Salaries for the academic year 2008-2009 are as follows:

Leave & Holidays Residents have three weeks of vacation and four days of paid holiday leave each year. The Ohio State University Medical Center provides up to six weeks of paid maternity leave and three weeks of paid paternity leave. Residents may use up to three weeks of sick leave per year. Second and third year residents are entitled to a total of 5 days per year for conference or interviews. Residents should understand that ABIM regulations mandate that any leave (including sick leave, vacation, maternity/paternity or FMLA leave) in excess of one month per year be made up prior to advancing to the next stage of training.
Insurance Benefits The Ohio State University Medical Center offers full medical, vision, dental, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage. Professional liability insurance covers all patient-care activity occurring within the scope of the training program.
Book & Travel Benefits The Department of Internal Medicine pays for ACP membership (with subscriptions to the Annals of Internal Medicine and the ACP Journal Club) for all interns. Second and third year residents are allotted $400 per year for educational expenses (books, journals, educational travel, exam fees). In addition to this educational expense perk, the department will support the travel of any resident who has a scholarly project accepted for presenation at a regional or national meeting.
Palm Pilots Every resident in The Ohio State University Medical Center receives a Palm Pilot with Epocrates and AvantGo software.
Parking The department pays for all residents to receive a faculty parking pass, allowing access to parking garages adjacent to the Medical Center.
Laundry & Dry Cleaning The Medical Center provides free laundry and dry cleaning to all housestaff.
Sports Facilities Ohio State has recently opened two of the best recreation facilities in the country, the Recreation and Physical Activity Center and its West Campus satellite facility, the Adventure Recreation Center.
Ancillary Services Ancillary support at the hospital includes phlebotomy (including blood cultures), electrocardiograms, IV placement and patient transportation. Other services include easy access to computers and facsimile terminals, a completely digitalized web-based radiology system, and a computer order entry system. The computerized patient-record system provides access to all dictated hospital and office visits, discharge summaries, procedures, radiology reports, laboratory and pathology reports. We have a team of Patient Care Resource Managers (PCRMs) who work with inpatient teams to assist with disposition, paperwork, and insurance queries. Also underway is a project to incorporate a hospital-wide Electronic Medical Record.
Computer Resources In addition to computerized patient records and radiology, internet access is available on all hospital computers. Residents have access to UpToDate, ACP Medicine, Medline, PubMed, MDConsult, evidence based medicine reviews, electronic journals and other data bases via all hospital computers.
Resident Call Suite Our call suite, built in 2001, is complete with lounge, classrooms, vending area, computer lab, and private sleeping quarters. Each sleeping room has a computer, desk, phone, television and bathroom.
OSU Football Tickets Housestaff usually receive a football ticket application every May with an option to purchase split season tickets.
